Sgt. Edward L. Brooks of Dayton, Ohio graduated from Colonel White High School where he was a member of the ROTC class of 2000. In the Junior ROTC he excelled at being a "spin master" in precision rifle drills, twirling his 9-pound rifle like a baton. He was married with a 20-month-old son, 10-year-old stepson and 7-year-old stepdaughter. He died in Ramadi, Iraq, of wounds sustained from an improvised explosive device at age 25.
