Marcella Ruth Abernathy Robinson

Born on June 6, 1945, to parents, John Earl and Claudine Brandon Abernathy in Fowler, CA.

She was the fourth child of five girls born to John and Claudine, and lived in the Fowler area all of her life. She passed away on Sunday evening, April 30, 2006.

Marcella graduated from Monroe Elementary, Caruthers High School, and Four C's Business College in Fresno County.

In 1972, Marcella joined the U.S. Army Reserve; at the time she was the only female in the Fresno Army Reserve Training Program.

While in the Army she met and married Will Robinson and to this union the loves of their life were born, Stephanie and Jason.

In 1994, she ended her career in the Army and retired as a Flight Operation Coordinator.

Marcella was adventurous and loved to take tasks that at the time seemed impossible to achieve.

For five years, Marcella and her husband Will contributed to the success of the Harambee Farmers Market in Los Angeles, CA.

It was a labor of love for Marcella and Will to make weekly trips from Fresno to Los Angeles taking their fresh produce to the market.

Marcella was famous at the markets and with friends and family for her yam muffins and cakes, Texas Caviar blackeye pea dip and Chips, pickled okra, and her one of a kind apple pies. They will be missed but not forgotten.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Claudine Abernathy; sister, Pauline Singleton; and nephew, Dave Davis.

Marcella is survived by her devoted husband, Will Robinson; her daughter, Stephanie Robinson; son, Jason Robinson; sisters, Delores Washington, Dorothy Abernathy, and Celeste Abernathy; nieces, Marlene Boone, Renea Singleton, and Dominique Davis; and nephews, Vincent Pyle and John Cowings. Marcella leaves behind a host of cousins, family, and friends.
