Marie Mius was born about 1770 in the Tusket region of Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia. She was the daughter of Laurent Mius (á Jean Baptiste Mius d'Azy) and Marie Alexis, cited as being Mi'kmaq. She died at Ste Marie's Bay, Digby County, Nova Scotia, sometime after the 1840-1844 Baie Ste Marie parish census. She married Olivier dit Miquine Frontain, about or prior to 1785, either at Tusket Wedge, where the Frontain family originated, or at St-Alphonse-de-Clare (Chéticamp), Digby County, Nova Scotia, where they re-settled and had at least 10 children.
