Jacob Ernest Brecht was the son of German parents, John Gottlieb Brecht (6 Feb.1806-25 Sep. 1881 Montgomery County, PA) and Catharine Frances Ernst Brecht (1810-1861, FAG Memorial# 67037872).

He was an 1869 graduate of Pennsylvania College of Dental Surgery (D.D.S. for Doctor of Dental Surgery) and an 1874 graduate of the St. Louis Medical College (M.D. for Doctor of Medicine). He spent his years after graduating from dental school practicing as a surgeon dentist in Kulpsville, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania (see image at right).

I have not been able to determine at this point if he returned to Pennsylvania after graduation from medical school in 1874.

By the time of the 1900 and 1910 census he was living in Fort Myers, Lee County, Florida in the general practice of medicine.

He died there of a heart attack on 3 January 1919 and his body was shipped to Pennsylvania for burial on 13 January. His brother, A. Ernest Brecht (1851-1925, FAG Memorial# 101554468), of Philadelphia handled the arrangements.
