Galen Delos Moyer practiced dentistry. He was supported thru school by his younger sister whom he in turn supported thru her music training. Followin dental school was a two year stint in France and medical school in New York he started practice in Montevideo in 1883 also traveling monthly to Ortonville, Minnesota. In 1911 he took up practice in Hayward, Wisconsin while also tending a tree nursery by his home along the Namekogan River near Springbrook as an avocation which he shared freely with friends and the community. He was active in civic and professional organizations. He and his wife Harriot had two children Margaret Atkinson and Galen Dana Moyer.

Thanks to Bertel Budd for the above information.

Galen Dolos Moyer, MD was also an 1881 graduate of The New York College of Dentistry (DDS). I have not as yet been able to determine where his MD degree is from nor the year. But it was not unusual for physicians to specialize in dentistry. Some went to dental school to further their skills in this area while others did not.

The following is according to Beecher and Polk dental directories:

In 1888-1912 he was in practice in Montevideo, Chippewa county, Minnesota with no street address given.

In 1897 he was also listed at Madison, Lac qui Parle county, Minnesota.

In 1914 at 436 Pillsbury Building, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Unlisted for some reason in 1917.

In 1925-28 was in Hayward, Sawyer county, and in Springbrook, Washburn county, Wisconsin.

I have not been able to determine when Dr. G.D. Moyer was in practice with his brother Dr. F.J. Moyer (Find A Grave Memorial# 61933922) in Lockport as indicated in the CDV advertising card to the right but I suspect if was prior to his setting up his own practice in Minnesota by 1888.
