WWII Veteran, he was posted in the South Pacific aboard the USS Blueridge (his favorite), and left to "clear" many South Pacific Islands prior to Armed Forces landing. His position becomes the Navy SEALs just three years after his service in the United States Navy.

James E. Levy was born Dec. 2, 1923, in Kelso to Arthur C. and Lucille Worley Levy and passed away at a local nursing home March 8, 2014.

Jim served in the Navy as a Navy Seal in the South Pacific from 1942 to 1946 as a radioman second class.

After 58 years of being absent from the love of his life, Jim found Hazel Potter-Sanders and married her in 2004.

Jim is survived by a daughter, Linda in Missouri; a half-brother, Roy Jacobson of Kalama; three stepsons and their spouses, Dale (Marion), Robin, and James (Nannette) Sanders; several grandchildren, including Linda Youngberg in California; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Marilyne and Shirley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Columbia Funeral Service.
