Micajah Brooks lived to be over 100 years old. He was the son of John Brooks, Jr. and Jane (May) Brooks. He first married Mary Hunter in 1785 in Chatham, North Carolina and they had 10 children: Elisha, John, Elijah, Jane (Brooks) Wilson, Ruth Bertha (Brooks) Moseley, Mary Sarah (Brooks) Allen, Elizabeth (Brooks) Johnson, Nancy (Brooks) Hubbard, Temperance (Brooks) Key and Laney (Brooks) Griffin. Then on 6-27-1839 Micajah married his second wife, Margaret T. Carter, they had 2 children: Carter Brooks and Green Lee Brooks. Micajah was a farmer and a Revoluntionary Soilder, 1776-1785. He Served under Captain Few, George Barber & Col. Elijah Clark of Georgia. Re-enlisted in Edgefield Dist., S.C., Mar. 1780 /81 & served 3 months under Capts. John Hill, Joseph Mimms, John Wilson, Stephen Bishop, Samuel Beckam, David Miller & Col. Elijah Clark. He won land in 1827 lottery in Muscogee County, Georgia. His sister was Susannah (Brooks) Kelly, brothers were, John Hannah, Joab, James and Baalam.
