Departed on Feb. 19, 2012 and resided in Darnell, LA. Funeral services for Bro. Gethern Self, 83, of Darnell will be held at 11AM Tuesday, February, 21, 2012 at Pentecost Tabernacle Church in Delhi with Rev. Shane Lester and Rev. Nathan Scoggins officiating.
Visitation will begin at 6PM Monday at Pentecost Tabernacle.
Burial will be in the Epps Community Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Delhi.
Bro. Self was a farmer, retired Minister and a Board Member of Pentecost Tabernacle.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jehu Traver Self and Bertha Lee Moore Self; four brothers Curtis, Christopher Columbus, John Edward and Jehu Self; three sisters, Travis Powell, Gladys De Ramus and Gertrude Powell and the mother of his children Eva Jewel Babin Self.
Gethern is survived by his wife of eighteen years, Helen Patrick Self of Darnell; two sons, Billy Ray Self and wife Brenda of Darnell and Dennis Self and wife Andrea of Oak Grove;a daughter Darlene Burton of Alexandria, LA; three brothers T. C. Self of West Monroe, LA, C. O. Self of Ringgold, LA and Sanford Self of Monroe, LA; one sister Beatrice Brister of West Monroe, LA; three step-sons Rowdy Thomas and wife Karen of Forest, LA, Gary Thomas and wife Donna of Tallulah, LA and Chris Thomas & wife Dorothy of Pioneer, LA; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; seven step grandchildren, three step great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Buddy Green, Brandon Pace, Eric McKinney , Mike McKinney, Henry Ware, Anthony Self, Bernard Powell and Clyde Self.
