Funeral services for Gladys Marie "Granny" Self DeRamus, 76, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at 12:00 noon in Pitkin, Louisiana. The service will be held at Pitkin Pentecostal Church with the Reverends Nathan Scoggins, Jim DeRamus and C.R. Bayham officiating. Interment will follow in the Sugartown Cemetery in Sugartown, Louisiana with Reverend Jimmy Masters officiating.

Mrs. DeRamus was born February 23, 1932 in Fullerton, Louisiana to the late Bertha Lea (Moore) and Jehu Trevor Self. She passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2008 in Nacogdoches, Texas.

Mrs. DeRamus was a lifelong resident of Pitkin but she resided in Lufkin for the past 11 years. Prior to moving to Lufkin, Mrs. DeRamus was an active member of Pitkin Pentecostal Church for many years and a current member of Cornerstone United Pentecostal Church in Lufkin.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Bertha and her husband, Reverend Nathan Scoggins and Betty DeRamus, all from Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Reverend Jim and Cynthia DeRamus of Hazelwood, Pennsylvania and Edward and Missi DeRamus of Calhoun, Louisiana. She was blessed with eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Siblings include brothers, Curtis Self and Gethern Self of Pioneer, Louisiana, T.C. "Pete" Self of West Monroe, Louisiana, Chris Self of Goodwill, Louisiana, Curvin Self of Ringgold, Louisiana and Sanford Self of Monroe, Louisiana; one sister, Beatrice Brister of West Monroe, Louisiana. She will be remembered by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. DeRamus was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Derwood DeRamus; brothers, John Edward Self and Jehu Self; and sisters, Travis Powell and Gertrude Powell.

Pallbearers will be Mrs. DeRamus' nephews.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Lufkin, and from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Wednesday at the Pitkin Pentecostal Church in Pitkin, Louisiana.
