Peaches came into mine and Don's life in September of 1984.
She was the cuttest little puppy. She was 3/4 pomeranian and 1/4 Chihuahua.

She loved spending time with Donald as I was working. They walked together, rode together and we both loved her very much. She would beg whenever we drove past an Artic Circle or the local Iceberg. She loved eating the bottom of the ice cream cone. She loved going visiting and going on trips with us. She was a constant companion.

We had her for 12 years. On the morning of February 24, 1996 Don had dropped me off at the bus stop. Gone home and took Peaches for her morning walk. When he went in the house she headed for the back yard. A few minutes later a neighbor stopped and asked Don "Where is Peaches? You better come with me. I think she is laying in the road down the street." Don went with him and it was our Peaches.
A pit bull dog on the next street over had grabbed her by the head and drug her over in front of his house. She was hurt so bad that when Don took her to the animal hospital there was nothing they could do for her. So she was put to sleep. I asked Don "Why didn't you bring her home so we could bury her" and he said. "Mamma you would not have wanted to see her she was tore up so bad." We both cried for our lost little companion. We loved her so very much. She was like one of our children. And will be forever missed.

Sad...

Peaches was such a cute little pup-
She fit in the palm of our hand-
She wiggled her way into our hearts
with each cute gesture and whim.

She sat upon the back of the seat
as off to the store we would go.
She always had to have her own way
as she was always in tow.

We could not pass an ice cream store
without getting her a cone-
She always had the bottom half
when we were on our way home.

Then one day while I was at work
A terrible thing did occur
She was snatched by the head by
that terrible dog-
To give her no breathe anymore.

We cried and we cried with a terrible loss-
A loss that was beyond our control
She was one of the family you see
Twelve years together, her and me...

Then down the road we were given a chance
To love her all over again-
To care for her pup who was needing some care
For a year or maybe more.
Then one cold evening after a year
She was taken away from our care
To not know what happened to her
Has left our thoughts in despair-

To have loved two dogs the way that we did
Is memories beyond belief
We hope that both of our baby girls
Have found some peace and relief-

We love you both Papa and I
You will always be in our hearts-
Goodbye - Old friends
You will be sorely missed
And I seal this poem with a Kiss-
