After Raymond and Martha were married, they purchased the Tip Top Cafe in Truman, MN. They owned and operated it from 1960 to 1975. They lived in the apartment above the cafe during this time. When they sold the cafe, they moved into a house on Elsie Delores Shoen's farm.
Raymond was deceased on December 16, 1979 and is buried at the Ridgelawn Memorial Park in Truman, MN. In November of 1991 Martha fell while serving a dinner at the church. She was hospitalized with a broken wrist and a broken hip. She spent a month in the hospital and moved in with her daughter Alice Sandmeyer for the winter. She went back home in the soring of 1992.
