Mrs Mary J McLeod died Thursday May 19 1921 after months of suffering. Funeral services on Friday and burial was in the family plot at DeFuniak Cemetery. Miss Mary Jeannette Anderson was born to Mr. & Mrs. John C Anderson on March 30, 1846. On March 2, 1872, she was married to Wm. B. McLeod, and there were six children; John W, Charles A, Norman L, Walter A, Sarah & Kate McLeod, all surviving and living in DeFuniak except Walter A of Mobile, Ala.

Mrs. Mary J. McLeon
After several months of suffering and weakness, most patiently endured, Mrs. Mary J. McLeod was suddenly taken to the home she loved and to the loved ones there early on Thursday morning, May 19, 1921. She had arisen early and was sufficiently strong to permit one of her daughters, Miss Sarah, to take the early train for Pensacola. She was met at Crestview with the same sad news that shocked so many friends and neighbors in DeFuniak, and she returned on the east bound train at 9 o'clock.

Miss Mary Jeanette Anderson was born to Mr. & Mrs. John C. Anderson on March 30, 1846. In early girlhood she joined the Presbyterian Church at Red Bay, Florida, and ever afterwards lived a simple Christian life.

On March 2, 1872, she was married to Wm. R. McLeod, and to them were born six children; Messrs. John W., Charles A., Norman L., Walter A. McLeod, and Misses Sarah and Kate McLeod. All of these live in DeFuniak Springs except Mr. Walter A. McLeod of Mobile, Alabama.

Mrs. McLeod had been for many years a faithful and interested member of the DeFuniak Springs Presbyterian Church, she and her husband being among the first accessions after the organization of this church, coming from the Freeport Church, July 10, 1886.

A noble woman, a loving mother, and a sincere Christian has gone to her reward, and we mourn not as those who have no hope.

"Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord."

Simple funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church on Friday morning, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Daniel J. Currie, and by Rev. R. Q. Baker; and the burial was in the family plot at the DeFuniak Cemetery.
