Arrangements are being handled by Ingram Funeral Home in Albion.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Doug Benham officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Albion. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday (tonight).
Mr. Wood was born in Wabash County November 22, 1911, the son of Marsh and Mary Ellen (Buchanan) Wood. He married Lula Bassett. He later married Beniece Turpin in June 1946. She lives in Mt. Carmel.
He worked at Albion Brickyards from 1946 until they closed. He was a guard at the penitentiary in Joliet from 1957 to 1970. He then had a saw filing and lawn mower repair shop.
He was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Albion
He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the American Legion at Mt. Carmel.
Surviving, in addition to his second spouse, are one son, Richard Wood, Grayville; one daughter, Rosemary Allen, Mt. Carmel; two step-sisters, Zelma Marks, Bridgeport, Pauline Schick, Mountain View, Calif. ,four sisters, Fern Carter, Pomona, Calif., Nola Burton, Martha Goodson, Clara Hockgeiger, all of Mt Carmel, six step-grandchildren, 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, two sons, one step-grandson, and his parents.
