Donald Ray "Don" Hastings, age 50, of Palestine, Texas died September 16, 1986 in a Tyler, Texas hospital following a lengthy illness. Burial at Roselawn Park was under the direction of Herrington/Land of Memory. He was born February 14, 1936 in Palestine, the son of William Benjamin and Grace Jenkins Hastings. Mr. Hastings was well known throughout the United States and the world as a master knifemaker. He was preceded in death by his father, who died last year. He was survived by his wife, Jean Spann Hastings; daughters, Melissa Herring, Rebecca Hastings, and Betsy Hastings; his mother; and one granddaughter, Blythe Herrin.
