C. Howard King, 69, of Fair Play died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield. He was born Aug. 14, 1938, in Springfield, the son of James Sherman and Edna Mae Wood King. He married Donna Jean Robertson on June 20, 1959,and to this union eight children were born. He served in the Army National Guard.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Donna King; four sisters and one brother. He is survived by eight children, David and wife Lisa of Lawson, Shonda Anderson and husband Ralph of Sanford, Fla., Tammy Hayward and husband Richard of Winter Garden, Fla., Rhonda Settles and husband Steve ofPark HilIs, Sheryl Long and husband Michael of Brownstown, Mich., Jeffrey and wife Pat of Aldrich, Jennifer Dollar of Fair Play and Bobby and wife Elizabeth of Bolivar; 17 grandchildren and one on the way; one brother, Richard King of Urbana; two sisters, Wanda Culbertson and husband Orville of Fair Play and Shirley Young of Ozark.
Services were Friday, Jan. 4, at Bolivar Pentecostal Church of God with the Rev. Harold Johnson officiating. Burial followed in Barren Creek Cemetery, Fair Play. PaIlbearers were David King, Jeff King, Bobby King, Daniel
Smith, Stephen Hayward, Kevin Hayward, Anthony Hayward and Ryan Cook. Honorary pallbearers were Skyler King and Cameron Cook.
