Funeral services for John E Cook, Montague rancher who passed away on last Tuesday morning while en route to the Fort Benton hospital were held on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Louther Chapel,and the services were conducted by the Reverend Ralph Underwood, pastor of the First Christian Church of Fort Benton. The services were attended by a large delegation from the Montague section as well as quite a number in this city who had known the deceased for many years. A number of relatives from distant points also attended the funeral. Burial was made in Riverside Cemetery.

John E. Cook was born January 13, 1875, at Culberson, North Carolina, where he spent his early life. He then moved to Georgia where he resided until he came to Chouteau County, Montana in 1928. He was married in Union County, Georgia on December 18, 1904, to Julia Nichols and to this union were born the following children: Mrs. George (Merle) Dewar, Cecil, Rene, Pauline and Oscar Cook, all of Montague; Ira Cook, Philippine Islands. He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Nancy Cook, Fort Benton; Allen Cook, Culberson, N.C.; Thomas Cook, Hempville, Georgia; and Robert Cook of Belt, Montana.
