Nancy Cook, age 83, a resident of Chouteau County for the past 44 years and of Fort Benton for the past 16 years, passed away at the St. Clare Hospital in this city at 1:50 a.m. Dec. 31. She had been a patient there for the past nine weeks. Death was due to the infirmities of age.
Nancy Cook was born Feb. 8, 1871, in Fannin County, Georgia, and spent her early life there. She came to Montana in 1908 and homesteaded in the Nine Mile section, where she resided until moving to Fort Benton in 1938, and where she has since resided with her son, Herman Cook. She is well known in this section of the county and has many friends who will be sorry to learn of her passing.
She is survived by one son, Herman; by an 87 year old brother Allen Cook who resides in Union County, Georgia, and by the following nieces and nephews: Mrs. George (Merle) Dewar and Mrs. Bob (Pauline) Poindexter, of near Fort Benton; Mrs. Bob Irvin of Superior, Mont.; Mrs. Bill (Nettie) Irwin, Dupuyer; Mrs. Harry Burns, Great Falls; Carl Cook, Havre; Herbert Cook, Great Falls; Cecil, Rene, Ira and Oscar Cook, all of near Fort Benton; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held from the Benton Funeral Home chapel at 2 p.m. on Monday. Burial was in Riverside cemetery.
The relatives have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.
