Martha was the daughter of Ansel and Rutha Tipton Bailey, and the wife of Rufus Cook. Her sister Nellie married Robert Cook, a brother of Rufus and they moved to Montana.

Martha's children in 1900 Fannin County, Georgia were Joseph, Sophia, Cansada, Gordon, Cleveland, Perry, Lawrence, Herbert, Clay, Ora, Rose (Nell), and Roy. Alice was born 1901.
