JOHN CURTIS ADKINS
Dec. 3, 1955 - Jul. 6, 2009

ALBANY - John was born in Salem to George and Georgia, and died in Ilwaco, Washington. He graduated from Sprague in 1974 and worked for ODFW, earned degrees in Fisheries Technology and Electronic Engineering Technology, and worked for Hewlett Packard in Corvallis for 19 years before pursuing his dream of becoming a commercial fisherman.

John was very social and never met a person that didn't interest him. He experienced many adventures in life and was generous to a fault. John loved the great outdoors and lived to fish. He could often be found drifting Oregon's western rivers with his dog Blackjack.

John is survived by his three brothers, Gary Dean of Salem, Randall of Jefferson, George of Salem, a niece and nephews.

A memorial potluck for John will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 3 at Morningside Methodist Church in Salem. Contributions in his memory to Save Our Wild Salmon.
