Marjorie Ann (Kunes) Hambright, 71, Burnham, was lifted in the arms of her Savior and Lord early Wednesday evening at Ohesson Manor, Lewistown, surrounded by family and a few close friends after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Fred D. and Evelyn M. (Snyder) Kunes. She was married to Robert C. Hambright on Dec. 23, 1960, at Lakemont United Methodist Church by the Rev. Van H. Beeman. Known as "the movie man of Mifflin County," Bob preceded her in death on Dec. 1, 2003.

Surviving are her sister, Melody K. Sorge and husband, Lloyd, of Lakemont; two nephews: Ashley Sorge and wife, Jessica, of Duncansville and Aden Sorge and companion, Emily Cunha, of Lakemont; a niece, Lou-Ann; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dolores and Richard Hambright of Burnham; and cherished friends: Nellie Wilson, Fred and Sue Saxton, Jayne Priar and Mary Barr, all of Lewistown. Also surviving are special cousins, many dear friends, and her beloved cats, Pudd, Bootsie and Stray.

Marge was a 1959 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School, where she was active in chorus and orchestra, playing the piano. She was formerly employed by Nabisco Co., Altoona, and several retail stores, including G.C. Murphy, W.T. Grant and Jamesway in Lewistown. She retired as a manager from the Uni-Mart stores, having worked in several locations, including Lewistown, Belleville and Burnham.

She was a member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church, Yeagertown, where she was an accomplished organist for 53 years and a member of the Knotty Ladies. She also was a member of Mifflin-Juniata Community Concert Association and the Order of the Eastern Star, Lewistown Chapter 283, where she served as organist, and a former member of White Shrine of Jerusalem.

Marge had a passion for music and was called upon many times to play for weddings, hymn sings at a local nursing home, and piano/organ Christmas concerts at her church. Her pastimes included working crossword puzzles and going on rides to look for deer. She ever so loved traveling with her sister, whether stateside or overseas, and took in every ray of sun when visiting the shore. She was an avid fisherman, spending many hours at the river or a private lake. She never hesitated to let a person know exactly where things stood and was always open for a good joke or story. She loved going to the Mifflin County Airport just to enjoy the serenity or observe the air shows held there. She was a people person, making friends with almost everyone.

Marge will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at Holy Communion Lutheran Church, Yeagertown, followed by a funeral service at 4 p.m. by Pastors Philip Tundel and Mike Sigler. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Altoona.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Mifflin-Juniata Concert Association, c/o Helen Benner, 542 Platt Hollow Road, Thompsontown, PA 17094; or Lewistown Home Health and Hospice: The Bridge, 305 Fourth St., Pleasant Acres, Lewistown PA 17044.

Arrangements are by Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg.
