Charles (Charlie) Hayden Couture, 61, of Bedford, died Wednesday, June 18, 2008, in Lewis-Gale Hospital. He was born in Washington, D.C., on February 10, 1947, a son of the late Elmer Joseph Couture and Dorothy Alice Hayden Couture. Charlie began his career with the Arlington County Volunteer Fire Department. In 1975, he moved to Roanoke County and became a paid Fire Fighter, when he left Roanoke he was a Lieutenant at Clearbrook Fire Department. In 1980, he returned to Northern Virginia and became a dispatcher for the Alexandria Fire Department. In 2000, he retired as a Communications Coordinator with the Alexandria Fire Department. Charlie is survived by his wife of 29 years, Becky Dudley Couture; three sisters, Louann Harmon and her husband, Donnie, of Falls Church, Margaret Bartos, of Michigan and Karen Scott and her husband, Mike, of Fairfax; his stepmother, Dorothy Couture, of Springfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
