++I lost my mother to metastatic breast cancer ~ after a 16 1/2 year courageous battle, she entered Heaven's Gate....++

Joan D. Bogan, 61, of Valparaiso, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at the VNA Horton Hospice Center. She was born April 4, 1942 in LaPorte, the daughter of Walter and Dora (Werner) Batzka, graduated from Morgan Township High School and South Bend Business College, then worked as a Secretary for Bendix Corp., Bethlehem Steel and American Bridge and Iron. She was a member of Valparaiso First Church of the Nazarene and had been active with several prayer groups there.
On June 3, 1967 at Salem United Church of Christ in Wanatah she married Bruce C. Bogan who survives along with their two children, Sherri (James) Nibbe of Valparaiso and Scott Bogan of Valparaiso, one brother, Kenneth (Edris) Batzka of Morgan Township and one grandson, Joshua Nibbe.

++If you get a chance, please visit my mom's dog, Shep. She loved him so much! Shep was her very first collie...++
++Also ~ two of her favorite barn cats were Tiger, and Elvis. She loved all of her pets very much!++

++Mandy, was my Mom's last furbaby. They were reunited on Monday, April 16, 2012, about 11:30 a.m. Dad and I had grown to love the "Princess". My dad was never a cat person. He's always said when he and Mom meet again, he's going to talk to her about Mandy ~ leaving him with a cat! I see how much he misses her ~ especially in the big, empty house. Maybe someday, he will open his heart to another furry kid ~ as long as I don't call him a pet parent....++
