Rebeka was born to a wealthy family in Pruzany, Poland. Although she was a deaf-mute, she was not held back by it. Her husband Jakub, who was eleven years her senior, was also a deaf-mute. Jakub owned a factory in Warsaw that employed other deaf people to make handicrafts. They had three daughters, Sabina, Ester (Estusia), and Hanka, who all had normal hearing and speech. When their three girls were young, the nanny they hired for them was also deaf. Rebeka and her family were forced to move into the Warsaw Ghetto after the Nazi invasion of Poland. Their house was just down the street from the headquarters of the ZOB (Zydowska Organizacja Bojowa, or Jewish Fighting Organization), the fighting force that masterminded the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising in the spring of 1943. Luckily, Rebeka's oldest child, Sabina, managed to escape to the Soviet Union with her husband Mieczyslaw Zielinksi. In May of 1943, after the uprising, Rebeka, her husband, and their two younger daughters were deported to Majdanek, among the last to be deported from the Warsaw Ghetto. Rebeka and Jakub were murdered upon arrival.
