20 year old U.S. airman of the 603rd Air Control Squadron at Aviano Air Force Base, Italy from Kennesaw, GA who died from injuries sustained after a mortar round hit his tent at Balad Air Force Base (north of Baghdad) in the war in Iraq on April 10, 2004 while serving and protecting the country he loved. He had been in Iraq since October. The Atlanta native graduated from North Cobb High School in Kennesaw, GA. After graduation he attended Georgia State University then later joined the United States Air Force as a member of the 31st Fighter Wing. At his funeral held in Atlanta days following his death with hundreds in attendance, Holt was remembered as a man who--while just 20 years old served as an example to those around him. Holt's family was also presented with the Purple Heart at his funeral service. Following service Holt was buried with full military honors at Lincoln Cemetery in Atlanta. Holt leaves behind his wife Patricia, a baby daughter Carmen, his parents, other relatives and friends.
