SEVER SR., John A. age 82 of Centerville, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2009 at The Oaks of West Kettering. John was born on December 22, 1926 in Dayton to Thomas and Mary (Sablak) Sever. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Joan McGarry; and two brothers, Thomas Sever and Joseph Knauss. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Wanda Mae (Helfinstine) Sever; his two children, John A. Sever, Jr. and his wife Leslie of Huber Heights and Jeannine Thoma and her husband, Doug of Miamisburg; a wonderful grandson, Brad Thoma of Carlisle and two loving sister in laws Doris Sivert & Phyllis "Dr.Phyl"Peffley. John attended Chaminade High School and the University of Dayton. John was a Navy (LST) veteran from 1942-1945 serving in the invasion of Sicily (First wave) and Normandy (First wave). He also served in the Air Force from 1951-1952. After leaving the military, John met his wife Wanda while they both worked for Rikes department store. John later made his career and retired as an accountant from Wright Patterson AFB after twenty three years of service. John had a love for singing and we are sure that "dad is now singing with the angels".
