Sarah Dagan was born to Edward Dagan (1816-1905) and Mary Ann Moore (1818-1911) in New York City and moved to Dorset Ohio with her parents when she was one year old. Her father ran a maple sugar vat in Toledo Ohio. While attending school in Toledo, she remembered the election of Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis. When she was 12 years old (1863) her family moved to Austin MN. and bought a farm near Fluffton Iowa. She experienced the anxiety of Indian outbreaks. The family then moved to Plymouth Rock Iowa where she married John Sullivan at St. Agnes Catholic Church November 12, 1869. She was known by her hundreds of friends as a kind and loving mother and faithful Christian.
