Art is the brother of my great-grandmother, Virginia DeMars Coutchie. He was the son of Peter DeMars and Martha Monette. He married Mary Helen Meisch. They had 6 children and then he died quite young of pneumonia. She later married his cousin.
He was a farmer, continuing the farm his parents had purchased from its homesteader. It is located in Brunswick, Michigan--just inside the Newaygo county line. It was still in the family until just a few years ago.
His obituary said that he was born in Lake Harbor, but I cannot find any such town in Michigan on today's maps. However, someone recently told me that it is an area in Muskegon Co., not a town.
