Candida had a profound commitment toward ensuring equality for women, and was a devoted advocate of women's rights. She served as an important role model for women and girls through her generous service to the community and Los Angeles County. Candida possessed almost unlimited strength, courage and compassion, and provided comfort to many people over the years. She displayed a passion for all things right in the world, and worked tirelessly to make a difference. Although she left us far too early, she accomplished what she had set out to do: She gave hope to the hopeless, a voice to those who never thought they would be heard, a listening ear to the downhearted and courage to those who faced immense difficulty. She is survived by her husband, Michael Schneider; her daughter, Tracy Nini; her mother, Helen D'Amato; her sister, Louise Wigart; her stepson, Jeffrey Kent-Schneider and four grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 15th, at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, 90068. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Candida D'Amato Memorial Fund, c/o WCR, 290 E. Verdugo Avenue, Suite 204, Burbank, CA 91502.

To Miss Candie's Family,
My daughter Kimberly DaSilva has been a heroin addict for 22 years. Ms. Candie guided Kimberly in the R.E.A.C.H. Program at Twin Towers in 2002. We will be forever grateful to this wonderful woman. We are sorry we did not know about her death until after the memorial service. We would have attended. We last spoke to Ms. Candie in November, 2002. Kimberly is presently in a Rehab and is doing great! I have my daughter back....because of Ms. Candie. She is Kimberly's Angel and always will be. Thank you, for her being part of our lives. God bless your family and I hope he will somehow fill the void that her passing has left in your lives.
