Gary was a veteran serving with the United States Army, in Korea, Germany and Vietnam, earning the Silver Star and Armored Badge medals. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and VFW of Gardner, Kansas and a member of the Masonic Lodge #341 of Parker, Kansas.
Gary was a man who loved life and people and changed the lives of people in his community and also through his military service.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his only son, Rickie Dean Frydendall; survivors include Janice Ellain Frydendall of the home; his daughters, Starr Plowman of Overland Park, Kansas and Renae Caderas of Gardner, Kansas; sisters, Barbara Fulton of Hugo, Oklahoma and Brenda Jo Harsh and husband, Dale of Sedona, Arizona; one brother, Reg Chard & wife, Joanne of Spring Hill, Kansas; step children, James DeGrande of Anaheim, California, Marie Gillespie of Pleasanton, Kansas, Mark DeGrande of Pleasanton, Kansas and Dale DeGrande of Amsterdam, Missouri; fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
Memorial graveside and inurnment will be held at 2:30 PM, Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at the National Cemetery, Fort Scott, Kansas.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
