Shirley Maricle -- Funeral services for Shirley Maricle, 79, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 14, 2005, in the White Oaks Chapel with the Rev. Sidney Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in the Occupy No. 1 Cemetery in Pitkin under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale. A native of Pitkin and a resident of New Iberia since 1966, Mr. Maricle died at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2005 in Iberia Medical Center.He was born on March 16, 1926 to the union of Leon and Belia Johnson Maricle in Pitkin. He was a retired truck driver for W.L. Estis Well Service.Mr. Maricle was preceded in death by his parents Leon and Belia Johnson Maricle; two brothers, Earl Maricle and Willie Maricle; and one granddaughter, Cynthia Lynn Coker.He is survived by his wife, Lottie Hatch Maricle; one son, Arthur Gene Maricle and wife Judy Dupre Maricle; three daughters, Sheila "Cookie" Desormeaux and husband David, Rowena M. Romero and husband Greg, all of New Iberia, and Hilda M. Coker and husband Bryant of Kiefer, Okla.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Brandon Desormeaux, Aaron Desormeaux, Elvin DuBose, Jr., Michael Legnon, Danny Aucoin and Lawrence Maricle.
