Bertha Clark Dougherty, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harmon Clark was born in Jackson county, Kansas, April 3rd, 1881, and died in Holton, Kansas, Feb. 26th, 1910, aged 28 years, 10 months and 25 days. She graduated from the High School in Holton with the class of 1900. She was married Nov. 22nd, 1905 to Jas. Dougherty, who survives her. She leaves also a father and mother who have ministered to her during her long illness, and in whose home she died. Bertha has been a faithful member of the Methodist Episcopal church for many years, and during her fight against that dreadful disease, tuberculosis, she exhibited the patience and faith of a true Christian .... the pall bearers were Edward Dunn, Frank Pomeroy, John Pomeroy, Frank Clark, James Dougherty and Harmon Armstrong.
