I'd like to add this to the bio for Elizabeth Highland Mapps, who is my 4th great grandmother. I found the info on familysearch.org.
Elizabeth Highland Mapps' father was William John Highlands b in Pennsylvania or Ireland in 1750. He first married Sarah Ann Jackson (b 1760 d 1788), with whom he had at least 2 children before she died. William John then married Elizabeth Childers Sept 17, 1789. She was b 1758 in Pennsylvania, d March 5, 1831 in Shippensburg, Cumberland, PA. Together William and Elizabeth had at least 6 children. William John Highlands d Oct 1819 in Southhampton, Cumberland, PA.
There is a biography on Familysearch.org that includes the information that this William John Highlands was a native of Ireland, and on emigrating to America, purchased land of the government. William James Highlands, son of the emigrant and Elizabeth Childers, was one of the pioneers, and at one time owned a large amount of land. He married a Miss Elizabeth Peebles or Peoples.

Family search info says he was born in Pennsylvania but that bio says Ireland. I will try searching census records for birthplace info.
