Mrs. Lizzie Lea Keene Sartin, 99, a resident and native of Lincoln County, Miss., died November 17, 2011. She was born on June 23, 1912 and the youngest child of Alice McGuffie Keene and O. Frank Keene.

She graduated from East Lincoln High school and Copiah-Lincoln College with an AA degree in Home Economics. She married W. Frank Sartin.

In addition to being a home-maker she worked for Stahl Urban Manufacturing Company, McComb Manufacturing Company, Kings Daughters Hospital, and retired from Brook Manor Nursing Home as Director of Food Services.

During her retirement years, the focus of her life was doing for others. She baked and delivered to others countless cookies and other confections. Also shared with others were the Upper Room devotional booklet, Sunday school books and the daily paper. She received numerous awards for community service, including (more than one year) the Outstanding Community Service Award from the Lincoln County Homemakers Clubs and in 1999 she was awarded the Exchange Club's Golden Deeds Award for Brookhaven and Lincoln County. Considered and designated "a spunky little lady" she kept her focus in life straight ahead.

Mrs. Sartin was preceded in death by her husband, W. Frank Sartin.

She is survived by three children, Virginia Sartin Salmon of Natchez, MS; Judy Sartin Adams and her husband Gerald of Brandon, MS; Buddy Sartin and his wife Connie of Hamilton, MS;

five grandchildren, Amelia V. Salmon and her husband Ben Hillyer of Natchez, MS; Burl Salmon and partner Robert Henkel of Atlanta, GA; Monica Adams of Houston, TX; Mark Adams and his wife Beth of Mobile, AL; and Micah (Moose) Adams and his wife Ashley of Houston, TX and Step-granddaughter, Tina Gregory Davis and her husband Johnny of Hamilton, MS.

Mrs. Sartin is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Gibson Thomas Salmon Hillyer and Lily Kate Adams; and one sister, Lena Mae Huhn Townsend Thames and her husband Paul of Lincoln County, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Sunday, November 20, 2011 from 4 pm until 6 pm at Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive, Brookhaven. Visitation will resume Monday, November 21 from 10:00 am until service time at 11:00 am at First United Methodist Church, 215 West Cherokee Street, Brookhaven. Interment will follow at Rosehill cemetery in Brookhaven.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 215 West Cherokee Street, Brookhaven, MS 39601.
