-- KERSHAW – Mr. Harlon Bufford Payne, 83, widower of Fannie Carnes Payne, of Kershaw, passed away Monday, Jan. 25, 2010. He was born August 3, 1926 in Kershaw, a son of the late Ernest Payne and Ruth Harris Payne. He was a member of White Bluff Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon, a former Church Treasurer, had been General Secretary of the Sunday School, and had been Sunday School Secretary for over fifty five years. Mr. Payne had worked with the Cauthen Family at Cauthen Funeral Home and Lancaster Funeral Home for almost fifty years.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Payne will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010 at White Bluff Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Humphries and Rev. Larry Plyler officiating. Burial will be in the Kershaw City Cemetery.
Mr. Payne is survived by a son, Ronnie Payne and his wife Luanne of Kershaw; two daughters, Judy Hudson and her husband Dwight and Joan Reynolds and her husband Michael all of Kershaw; six grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 27, 2010 at Lancaster Funeral Home and other times at the home of Ronnie and Luanne Payne, 7076 Flat Creek Road, Kershaw.
