-- Funeral services for James Anthony "Jim" Karl, 77, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, at Baker Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, July 19, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Karl died Friday evening, July 16, 2010, at his home. Born in Fort City, Pa., he was the son of the late Lawrence and Eulalia Moore Karl. He served as operations manager of ALLTEL's Kershaw Office and retired as district manager. He was a member Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Camden and the Kershaw Lions Club. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Surviving are his wife: Pat Karl of the home; a daughter, Cheryl K. Baker and her husband, Roddy, of Heath Springs; a son, Kevin J. Karl and his wife, Toni, of Irmo; five grandchildren, Joshua ( Caitlin) Baker, Matthew Baker, Susie Baker, Kayla Karl and Jamie Karl; one great-grandson, Jake Baker; a brother; and three sisters. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

The family will receive friends Monday July 19, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home.
