-- Graveside services for Marie Couch Phillips, 94, will be held Friday, September 3, 2010 at 4:00 P.M. in Kershaw City Cemetery. The Revs. Jamie Rogers and Don Knight will officiate.
Mrs. Phillips, widow of O'Neal Phillips, Sr. died Wednesday evening, September 1, 2010, in White Oak Manor, Lancaster. Born in Heath Springs, she was the daughter of the late Grover and Emmie Shehane Couch. She was retired from Springs Industries and a member of Kershaw Second Baptist Church and the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class. Mrs. Phillips enjoyed crocheting and gardening.
Surviving are her son; O'Neal Phillips, Jr. and his wife Judy of Heath Springs, 2 daughters; Joan Faulkenberry and her husband Bernard of Rock Hill, Carolyn Faulkenberry and her husband Jerry of North Charleston, 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, a number of great great grandchildren, and a sister; Betty Cauthen of Heath Springs. She was preceded in death by a daughter; Peggy Faulkenberry, 3 sisters; Della Adams, Vera Barrett, Annie Hinson , 8 brothers; William, Cleatus, Coleman, James, Eugene, Wilbur, David and Robert Couch.
The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery and other times at the home of her son, 6285 Beecher Horton Road, Heath Springs.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kershaw Second Baptist Church, 7737, Kershaw-Camden Highway, Kershaw, S.C. 29067.
