Olympic Games Gold Medalist Athlete, Professional Soccer Coach. Born in Valdemarsvik, Sweden, he was the captain of the Swedish National Team that won the gold medal at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London, England, and a silver medal at the 1958 World Cup in Stockholm, Sweden. As a member of the Swedish National Team, he appeared in 23 international matches scoring 11 goals. From 1949 to 1961 he played in Italy, helping AC Milan to win Italian championships during the 1951, 1955, 1957 and 1959 seasons. During his 12 year playing career with AC Milan, he appeared in 359 games scoring 81 goals. Following his playing career he went on to coach AS Roma for 12 seasons, and eight seasons with AC Milan, winning five combined trophies and two league titles. He went on to coach teams in Fiorentina, Verona, Varese and Monza, Italy before retiring from the sport in 1979. He died in Milan, Italy.
