After moving back and forth from Sweden to the US, my Grandpa finally settled in Canada.
He was from the old school - tough, hard-working and not the type to show affection.
He met and married my Grandma, Edit Snabb on November 11, 1930, and stayed married to her right up to her death in 1965. He never remarried, but lived with my Aunt until his death.
Although he was a gruff old man, he had a soft spot for his Grandkids. It is an old Swedish customs to give gifts on Christmas Eve and every year when all the grandkids were gathered at his house, he would walk in and say that he found this box of stuff on his back porch and didn't know where it came from.
In the box was 9 presents, with very poorly written English - Girl, 9, Girl, 6, Boy 8 - 9 presents with the exact ages & sex of his grandkids. It wasn't til we were older we realized it was him, not my Grandma or Aunt.
