OBITUARIES
ELVIN LEE CARMAN
Elvin Carman, 70, of 2607 North Third, La Grande, died Wednesday evening at his home. Mr. Carman was born Feb. 25, 1907, in Casey County, Kentucky, the son of Perry Virgil and Stella Mae (Buchanan) Carman. He was a member of the La Grande Eagles Aerie No. 259, the Oregon Steel headers Association, and AARP He came to this area in 1930 from Hood River and was self employed as a painter and auto mechanic until his retirement in 1974. Survivors include his father, Perry V. Carman, Jackson, Miss.: wife Elsie Carman, La Grande; sons, Paul and Gary Carman, La Grande, Ronald Carman, Gooding, Idaho, and Donald Carman, Hermiston; daughters, Mrs. Louis (Beverly) Kleng, Mrs. Dewey (Shirley) Kleng, and Mrs. Richard (Sharon) Shenfield, all of La Grande, Mrs. Gene (Connie) Heller, Gooding, Idaho, Mrs. Nathon (Joyce) Smith, Payson, Utah, and Mrs. Allen (Kathy) Thacker, of Canyon Country, Calif.: brothers, Harold Carman, La Grande, and Hoy Carman, Wallowa; sisters, Mrs. George (Ethel) Winch, Boise, and Mrs. Lou (Ruby) Palmieri, Redwood City, Calif,: 39 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Daniels Valley Funeral Chapel with Elmer Perry of the LDS Church officiating. Dedication of the grave and vault interment will follow at the Island City Cemetery.
