Samuel was the son of Barnabas Churchill and Lydia Holmes. He married Elizabeth (Sutton) Totman on October 27, 1798.

See page 18 of The Churchill Family in America, Gardner Asaph Churchill and Nathaniel Wiley Churchill compilers, George M. Bodge, editor and associate compiler. Published by the family of Gardner A. Churchill.

Many thanks go to Marcia Briggs for having done the research that identified the relationship of this Samuel Churchill to his parents, Barnabas Churchill and Lydia Holmes, as well as his relationship with Elizabeth (Sutton) Totman. She shared that information with me which, in turn, allowed me to record the correct information in this memorial. Sandy Lenox, the originator of this memorial, is not to be faulted in her origination of the memorial - I fell into the same traps as she did in originally identifying this Samuel as the son of Elizabeth (Churchill) Churchill and Josiah Churchill.
