Mr. D. F. Griffin and Mrs. Lena Cotton were married at the latter's home last Thursday night in the presence of a few intimate friends. Justice G. P. Dickinson performed the ceremony. The contracting parties are well known citizens of this community and have many friends who wish them much happiness. They will live on a farm a few miles west of Davis.



Death Comes to Davis Pioneer, D. S. Griffin

D.S. Griffin, aged 77, pioneer Davis citizen, died at his home in this city yesterday morning at 6:10 after a short illness. He took sick the first of last week and on Friday sustained a stroke of paralysis in the right side, which resulted in his death.

The funeral was held at the family home at 3 p.m. today, Rev. J.H. Stevens officiating. Interment in Green Hill Cemetery.

David Stilie Griffin was born Dec. 30, 1854, in Macon, Ga. He moved to Chattanooga, Tenn., in childhood and grew to man hood there. At the age of 21 he moved to Coal Hill, Ark., where his first marriage to Miss Liza Congo and his second marriage to Miss Tennie Smith occurred. He moved near Davis in 1901 where he farmed until his death.

In 1912 he was married to Mrs. Lena Cotton and to this union was born a son, Clay, now 14 years old.

Deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lena Griffin and son Clay, and the following children by two former marriages: Oscar A. Griffin of Las Machis Sinalie, Old Mex.; Mrs. Lula Wheelus and Mrs. Esther Altman, both of Salinas, Cal.; Harley Griffin, Mrs. Bill Dixon and Haskell Griffin, all of Davis; Demus Griffin of Nogales, Ariz., and three step-children, Mrs. R. J. Love of Purcell, Claud Cotton of Pauls Valley and Mrs. Perman Strickland of Davis.
