Indian Wars Medal of Honor Recipient. He received the award on April 27, 1877 for his actions as a corporal in Company H, 5th Infantry, of the US Army during the period of October 21, 1876 to January 8, 1877 at Cedar Creek, Montana and other campaigns. Nothing is known of his early life except that he entered the US Army from Boston, Massachusetts, date unknown. He died around the age of 37. A memorial marker for him was placed at the Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery in Kansas prior to the discovery of his grave at Red Top Cemetery. His Medal of Honor citation simply reads: "Gallantry in action."
