Myrtle Frances was the daughter of Jessie Norman and Maud BROWNING Newton. She was a pretty and sweet lady. She married Eldren Lee (Flip) Russell, July 15, 1942 in Charleston, Tallahatchie County, Mississippi when she was only 15. She had six or seven children and was a wonderful mother. She was a great cousin also. We all loved her and miss her.

Charleston -- Myrtle Russell, 66, formerly of Tallahatchie County, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, at Cheatham Medical Center in Ashland City, Tenn., after a long illness.

Services were 2 pm Friday, Feb 5, at National Funeral Home in Grenada with burial in Adams Arbor Cemetery near Charleston.

Mrs. Russell, the widow of Eldren Lee Russell, leaves four daughters, Patricia Williams of Ashland City, Peggy McDermott of Poughkeepsie, Ark., Mary Russell of Greenwood, and Frances Baugh of Hollandale; two sons, Jesse Russell of Poplarville and Jamie Russell of Greenville; a sister, Linda Thrasher of Amarillo, Texas; two brothers, Paul Newton of Carrollton and Charles Newton of Canyon, Texas; 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
