Musician. A founding member of the music ensemble "The Youngbloods", they will be best remembered for their gold single "Get Together" (also known as "Let's Get Together," 1967). The song since has been covered by scores of artists. Corbitt had already begun his career as a folksinger and guitarist, when he met Jesse Colin, while performing in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The pair joined forces and named themselves 'The Youngbloods', as they embarked on a tour in Canada in 1965. Their signature hit "Get Together" was released in 1967 and failed to crack the Top-50 on the Billboard Chart. However, when the song was used for a public service announcement for the National Conference of Christians and Jews, "Get Together" achieved a number five position on the charts in 1969. Renewed interest in the song happened when it was included on the "Forrest Gump" soundtrack in 1994. During the 1970s, Corbitt formed a duo with Charlie Daniels and embarked on a solo career. He went on to become a producer and worked with such artists as Don McLean, Pete Seeger and Janis Ian, in addition to contributing to television commercials.
