Phil Esterhaus' on the television police drama series "Hill Street Blues", for which he won two Best Supporting Actor Emmy Awards in 1981 and 1982. For feature films, his memorable role was as Nate Scarboro assistant coach for the Mean Machine football team of prisoners in classic movie with Burt Reynolds "The Longest Yard" (1974).
