Phil Esterhaus' on the television police drama series "Hill Street Blues", for which he won two Best Supporting Actor Emmy Awards in 1981 and 1982. His other television credits included "Wagon Train", "Hawaii Five-O", "Bonanza", "The Waltons", "All in the Family" and many more. For feature films, his memorable role was as Nate Scarboro assistant coach for the Mean Machine football team of prisoners in classic movie with Burt Reynolds "The Longest Yard" (1974). He died in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 58.
