19 Years was not enough

Dewey was a teacher of Love & Acceptance. He never met another living creature he did not like. Dewey was a Friend to all and LOVE to me. I still hear him running to the garage door greeting me as I come home from work. Playfully he dances at my feet waiting to be picked up. Softly he nuzzles his head against me when I hold him, purring loudly to share his love.

Dewey made friends with the dog across the street, and they setup weekly playdates. Oscar would come to our door and scratch. Dewey would run to the door and alert me, his friend was over for rough & tumble time. Dewey once found a wounded bird in our backyard, & ran to me with loud Meows. We took the bird in and nursed him back to health. Dewey was filled with Love.

Muffin entered our lives when Dewey was about 7 years old. Dewey immediately put a paw on Muffin's back to hold her as he proceeded to bathe her. No messy kitten for Dewey. He would spend the rest of his life caring for his little sister.

Both Dewey & Muffin were meowing loudly one night, letting me know they were unhappy, so I trudged out of bed and to the garage where they slept. Scolding me with their look when I opened the door, I saw at once the reason for their late night serenade. I had put new pillows in their heated beds that day, but had left the beds side by side rather than facing each other. Well, this would simply not do! Even while in bed, Dewey & Muffin had to be able to see each other and trade loving glances. Grateful to be their Kitty Mommy I turned the covered beds so the fronts would face one another. Thanking me by promptly jumping into their beds and stretching out on their heated blankets atop the new puffy pillows, they settled in for a good nights slumber.

Dewey loved to play chase with his dog Hannah Blacklab, sometimes receiving a scolding for running in the house. Not to be outdone Freddy Mix insisted on a wrestling match always forgetting that while he was 80 pounds to Dewey's 24 he would never win. Dewey was too fast and agile.

Friends were amazed when Dewey would walk into the living room with his pet cockatiel Zorro riding on his back. The DewMan and Zorro were good friends and shared many a private conversation.

Hanging out at the pool was the best part of summer for Dewey. He knew the beach towel draped over the side of the pool meant it was time to get his personal float ready. After a quick swim or two, Dewey enjoyed floating on the water dreaming of white water rafting adventures while cat napping. Dewey was always a cool cat.

Dewey has left this earth for the Rainbow Bridge. He waits for me to join him, sending his love through happy memories that live forever in my heart.

I thank GOD for the gift of you.

Rain rain come on down
You're so welcome at my door
Come on down and ease the pain
I never hurt this bad before

Tears keep falling from my eyes
And all I do is walk the floor
It's not too hard to realize
There's not much love here anymore

Rain rain come blowin' in
Come wash these tears away again
Leavin's cut me to the core
There's not much love here anymore

Rain rain come blowin' in
Come wash these tears away again
Leavin's cut me to the core
There's not much love here anymore

Rain rain come blowin' in
Come wash these tears away my friend
Leavin's cut me to the core
There's not much love here anymore
