A pregnant cat was the victim of a drive by drop off at my cousin's house. My cousin named your momma Oscar, she was a calico. The litter contained one black cat (which my cousin kept), one white cat (which went to my cousin's sister-in-law), two calico's (one went to my great aunt and she named it Monkey Face) and one gray kitty, which we chose to keep for ourselves. Well, actually, my hubby never liked cats, but he agreed I could get one because he wanted me to be happy.

My husband and I were about to get married and have our own place. So after you were weaned and we had moved into our condo, we picked you up and drove you to our new home. On the way, we were trying to decide what to name you. Frisky, Rain, Cloudy, Misty (because you were gray), but nothing seemed to "fit." Then, a song by Crystal Gayle began playing on the radio. I said, "how about Crystal?" We both agreed, the name really fit you. You became our Crystal Gayle and our new family was complete.

In the condo everything was new (furniture, rugs, & curtains). You used to run across the living room, jump onto the back of the loveseat, launch yourself into mid-air and land vertically onto the curtain covering the sliding glass door and hang by your claws! You would then slowly climb down the curtain. Whenever the sun shined through that curtain, it looked like a million tiny stars shining through the holes you had made! We also had a rattan trunk that was given to us as a wedding present and you shredded the side of it.

So, we decided to have you de-clawed at the same time you were spayed. When we picked you up at the vets after a day or two, you jumped out of the nurse's arms and went straight for my hubby. Thus began a special relationship between the two of you.

Back at the condo, you loved to hang over the edge of furniture, you sometimes slept in the bathroom sink, you could be found investigating the inside of the dryer and once you decided to jump off our 3rd floor balcony. You were totally fine, we were the ones who were distraught about it!

When we came home from work, we would say, "Come to the lovin' chair!" And you would come running from wherever you were to the back of the living room chair and then jump into our arms for our daily reunion.

After 3 years in the condo, we moved to a house in the country. Mommy was the one who drove you over an hour to get there. You must have never forgiven me, because you became mean to me. You only let me pet you if I was feeding you. You hissed and growled at me the rest of your life! Instead, you totally became daddy's cat. Every night while he was laying of the couch watching TV, you would lay on his chest and put the top of your head on his mouth for a kiss (a head bump).

You loved the new house because you got to go outside regularly. But, we commuted long hours and worried about you being home alone for so many hours each day, so we adopted another adult, female cat named Tabitha. You tolerated each other, but were never friends.

If you were outside when it was dinner time, we would call you in by banging two cat food cans together and calling in a high-pitched voice, "It's yummy time! Want some yummies?" You would come running to the house right away.

One rainy Sunday evening, you never came home for dinner. We called and searched for days, but you were gone forever.
