Civil War Union Naval Officer. He was commissioned as an Acting Third Assistant Engineer in the United States Navy on November 23, 1861. He served until honorably discharged on March 31, 1868.

He died in August of 1870 of disease contracted during his service in the Navy.

He was the son of Titus and Elizabeth Buckley.

One of the ships he served on was the sidewheel steamer "USS Jacob Bell", which at the tail end of the war served in the Potomac Flotilla protecting Washington, DC.
