Listed on 1874 Lot Map (Section 133, Lot 115, grave no. 55) but not in modern cemetery office records. He is also missing from an 1892 list of those buried here. On March 11 - 12, 2009, I located Grave lot no. 55. Instead of a grave, I found a distinct square-shaped depression and a headstone stating "U.S. Soldier."
Alexander was apparently reinterred elsewhere between 1874 and 1883 when the U.S. Soldier monument was erected at this spot. This monument was subsequently stolen and recently recovered.
Or it is very possible that he was never buried at Mount Moriah cemetery at all. His death certificate states he was buried at Odd Fellows cemetery on June 12, 1873.
