Civil War Union Army Surgeon. He was mustered in as a Private, Company B, 106th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, on August 28, 1861, and served until discharged on Surgeon’s Certificate, on July 20, 1862. He then returned to the regiment, being commissioned Assistant Surgeon, Field and Staff, on August 6, 1862. His time as a medical officer was brief, for he was discharged by Special Order, on October 21, 1862.

"ALEXANDER - On the 19th inst., Dr. H. ALEXANDER, aged 38 years."
